FIREFIGHTERS were called to six rubbish and grass fires in Blackburn.
The incidents started at 6.20pm on Monday in Peel Close, where grass was burning, and ended with litter being burnt on a playground near Montrose Street at 4.30am yesterday .
The crews were also called to a blaze in Morecambe Road, rubbish alight in Cedar Street and two fires in Spring Bank Terrace.
Watch manager Nick Ingham said the incidents coincided with the schools breaking up for the summer holidays.
He said: “When we are at these rubbish fires, the fire engine is not available.”
“It is unfair.”
