A SOUTH African charity worker will speak in Blackburn to mark her charity’s ten-year anniversary.
Trudie Harrison will speak at Blackburn Cathedral on behalf of Mosamaria, which helps those affected by AIDS and their families, on Wednesday, September 18.
Much of the charity’s work is carried out in Botshabelo, an area just outside of Bloemfontein, which is linked with Blackburn Diocese.
Mosamaria was started in 2003 as a response to the call from South Africa’s Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane for the Anglican Church to respond in a meaningful way to the devastating pandemic of HIV and AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa.
It strives to work together with all HIV sufferers, regardless of their race, creed, religious denomination or colour.
Mosamaria’s remit is extensive and it predominately focuses on teaching orphans and vulnerable young people important life skills, as well providing education on sexual health and pregnancy.
