A DAY of events, starting with a sponsored truck pull, will take place in Darwen on Saturday to raise cash for the Sam Shaw Appeal.
The landlady of The Victoria pub in Sudell Road, Emma Whittaker, has organised the event, which will see Sudell Road closed from its junction with Sudellside Street to the Ratcliffe Street.
The event starts at 1pm and features about 80 people trying to pull the truck in teams of eight. Two teams of 12 women have also signed up for the challenge.
Other entertainment includes a packed programme of live music, a barbecue and face painting.
There will also be a fundraising raffle, with prizes donated by local firms.
The parents of four-year-old Hoddlesden neuroblastoma patient Sam need to raise £250,000 for him to receive essential immunotherapy treatment in the US. The fund recently passed £200,000. To donate, visit www.justgiving.co. uk/samshawappeal and for information on the event, call Emma on 07971 185857.
