SPECIAL hoardings will be put up around Blackburn Central Library this week as renovation work continues to transform the building back to its original architectural glory.
The hoardings, designed with creative input from fashion guru Wayne Hemingway, who grew up in Blackburn, feature quotes from local people and a timeline of memories designed to show how the library has helped residents over the years.
They will keep town centre visitors informed about the work going on as well as convey the rich history and heritage of the building.
Similar hoardings will be put up when the town centre projects to develop the Cathedral Quarter and to build a new bus station get under way later this year.
Coun Damian Talbot, executive member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “The display is a great and informative way of clearly conveying the rich history and cultural importance of the library to town centre visitors.
“The hoardings will keep people informed as to what is happening there as well as showing what the building means to us and our commitment to the Northgate area as being a vitally important part of the town.”
