PROCEEDS from the Great Hameldon Hill Race have been donated towards the care of cancer patients.
Proceeds from this year’s race, which took place in May, were presented to the Hyndburn chapter of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Organisers of the race presented £200 to Sue Johnson, landlady of the Peel Park Hotel in Accrington, and chairman of the Hyndburn Macmillan group.
The Great Hameldon Hill Race, which has been running since 1973, is organised by Clayton-le-Moors Harriers.
This year’s event was the first race in the 2013 Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix, a series of races taking part in East Lancashire throughout the summer months. Next year’s race will celebrate the event’s 35th anniversary.
