A DEVELOPMENT of 60 homes which could spark a neighbourhood regeneration has been approved by councillors.
Blackburn with Darwen Council’s planning committee gave the go-ahead for construction of the estate on Queen Victoria Street in Mill Hill.
Chairman Dave Smith said the irregular-shaped parcel of land to the north of Mill Hill train station was unlikely to be developed for other purposes.
The scheme involves 60 three and four-bedroomed homes some detached, some semis and some terraced houses with two road links to Queen Victoria Street and a separate pedestrian access.
Two previous bids for housing had been turned down.
Dale Stokes, managing director of the nearby MDA logistics business at Waterfall Mill in Queen Victoria Street, said the scheme could be ‘a hopeful catalyst to the future regeneration of Mill Hill’.
