A VETERAN councillor believes that town hall bosses in Burnley should receive more credit for the success of Queen Street Mill.

Coun Roger Frost said that, while the textile centre was run by Lancashire County Council, the borough authority still contributed £80,000 a year to its upkeep.

He told a full council meeting: “We do not get anything on their paperwork or our logos on anything that they produce.

“We are a big investor in that organisation, and I am not saying for a minute that the county council does a bad job, but we should be recognised.”

Coun John Harbour, the council’s leisure and culture cabinet member, said there may be an argument for greater recognition.

“The museum used to be run by this council but we couldn’t afford to run it and the county council stepped in.

“We are getting a good deal for our £80,000 but there is an argument for more credit.”
