A SCHOOL is celebrating after receiving national recognition for having some of the fastest improving GCSE results in the country.

West Craven High Technology College was commended by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust for being in the top 20 per cent of schools in England for improving the number of A* to C grades between 2009 to 2012.

Headteacher Arnold Kuchartschuk said: “As a school we knew that we had been doing very well over a period of years and had no inkling that we were being considered for the award. The whole school is thrilled and I am so proud of our students, parents and teachers for their hard work and commitment.

“There were many exciting changes taking place during 2008 and as a school we were seeking to further improve attainment and as a result we restructured the way we delivered the curriculum and supported this with a strong focus on teaching strategies. I am so pleased for our local community that their school has achieved this award.”
