JUST as Ascot and Aintree – and even Burnley FC at Turf Moor – have their Ladies Days, there’s a local date in Burnley’s sporting calendar for those who love to style and profile.
And the gathering for Ladies Day at Lowerhouse Cricket Club didn’t fail to disappoint for 2013.
Female supporters of the Liverpool Road club had every reason to push the boat out even further this time around, as they are the reigning Lancashire League champions.
Promoters laid on a day-long feast for the £10 tickets, which came with the obligatory glass of bubbly and canapes while the first team took on Haslingden.
An array of stalls, from Ann Summers and Body Shop to mini jewellery, shoe and dress emporiums were also close at hand for the leisurely ladies.
Unfortunately the bonhomie was dented slightly when Haslingden ran out the eventual winners on the field.
But there was always karaoke, after the stumps were pulled, and live entertainment until the close of play in the clubhouse.
