DARWEN Spartans youth football team has appealed for donations of cabling, light fittings, sockets and bulbs as it prepares to fly out to Gambia for a charity project in January.
The club has teamed up with charity Football Gambia once again and will use the donated items to help build community facilities such as schools and hospitals in the poverty-stricken country.
Club president Mark Atkinson said they were also desperate for a generator, if anybody had one they no longer had any use for and were in a position to donate it.
Through the club’s charity connections, Darwen is to be twinned with Lamin in Gambia at a ceremony in January.
Anyone who can help in any way is asked to call Mr Atkinson on 07849 434052.
