A CENTRE that helps young people into the world of business has launched a work experience scheme with a difference.
Darwen Creates, based at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, has been given £1,000 from the Youth Development Fund to offer the opportunity.
As part of the initiative, a student will spend four weeks learning to build websites and how to run a business.
The work experience, which will start in August, will see the student work with James Cox of Start To Market, a firm based in DACA, to build a website for charity Derwent Hall.
Katherine Taylor, of Darwen Creates, said: “We wanted to do something where they get to run their own business.
“One pupil will be given this chance in August via an applications process.
“If it proves to be a success, we will look to do more projects in the future, keeping the community involved.”
If the successful student proves a success, there could be potential paid work on the back of the work experience.
