AN 83-year-old woman had her bag snatched in a subway straight after collecting her pension.
She had just left Todmorden Road post office, Burnley, and was walking through the subway which runs from Gala Bingo to the bus station at 9.50am on Thursday when a man ran up behind her, and grabbed her handbag, containing £300.
The woman was not hurt, but was shaken, and was comforted by a woman who stopped to help.
An hour later, a teenage boy went to the post office and tried to use a pension card belonging to the woman.
Detective Sergeant Ian Proctor appealed for the woman who helped the elderly lady to come forward because she may have got a better look at the thief.
