HUNDREDS lined the streets to watch the spectacle of the annual Darwen Pedal Car Grand Prix.
The event, now in its fourth year, saw homemade cars cycled round a track in the town centre over a two-hour relay race.
A second fun race took place in the midst of the action, made up of ready-made cars provided by the town council.
Teams taking part included five from the 105th Manchester Scouts, who finished first to fourth, The Bee Radio who came fifth, Blackburn firefighters in sixth and Crown Paints who finished seventh. A team from The Bridgewater pub won the fun race, with The Bob Inn as runners up.
Organiser Phil Jones said: “It went really smoothly and was massively well attended. It was heaving.
“The Scouts won with 102 laps, which is a new record for the event.”
