DANCERS taking part in their first ever competition walked away with seven trophies.
Forty-four students, aged 11-59, from KTZ Dance Studio in Rishton competed at Dancemania 2013, at Marsden Heights Community College, Nelson.
The troupe waltzed away with wins in numerous categories, including senior street and modern, junior street, 11-13 solo, 14-15 solo, 16+ solo and 16+ duo.
Teacher Katie Readman said: “It was a tremendous achievement and one they have worked so hard for.
“We have stepped it up and rehearsed three times a week for the last few weeks for a couple of hours at a time to achieve this.”
Katie also praised dancers awarded second place in the ‘adult masters dancing commercial street’ category.
She said: “For a group of amateur ladies to take to the stage after never dancing before and walk away with a second place is phenomenal.
“It just shows how much hard work, dedication and extreme commitment they have given.”
