AN empty shop looks set to be turned into a flat after a planning application was recommended for approval.
The shop at 10 Cranberry Lane, Darwen, has been empty for many years and Sally Halliwell has sent plans to the borough council.
The change of use would see the ground floor turned into a one-bedroom self-contained flat, with window alterations to the first-floor flat.
There was one objection to the plans from the owner of 27 Tunnel Street, which backs on to the property and the two share a yard.
It read: “The plans include adding a door to the rear wall which would open and give direct access to the yard, making the security to my own property compromised.”
Planning officers recommended the application be approved on the condition that a boundary wall was built between the two properties.
The planning committee were due to discuss the proposal at a meeting at Blackburn Town Hall.
