EDUCATION bosses visited one of the final Building Schools for the Future projects in Blackburn to view its progress.
Director of schools and learning Lisa Bibby, and Coun Dave Harling, executive member for schools and education at Blackburn with Darwen Council, took a look around Our Lady and St John Catholic College in North Road.
Work has included the const-ruction of a new building with classrooms and administration facilities, to form part a new school campus with three existing build-ings based around a courtyard.
There will be new changing rooms and a fitness studio and a bigger car park.
Work is expected to be completed by November 2013. Coun Harling said: “The school is looking really good. I think it is now even a little bit ahead of schedule. They were behind but, because of the weather, they have caught up. I think it is going to be a great asset to the school.”
The £120million Building Schools for the Future project has seen money invested in renewing and rebuilding eight schools in the borough.
Coun Harling was due to view progress at St Bede’s RC High School, in Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn, today, where work has included part of the school being demolished and some refurb-ishment, with other areas completely rebuilt.
