TWO World War Two survivors visited Alder Grange Community and Technology School to talk about their experiences.
Former Scots Guard Ted Davidson and George Cartmel, who was a child during the war, talked to a Year 10 GCSE history class at the Rawtenstall school.
Shumel Haydar, history teacher, said: “It was evident the unforgiving memories of the war were still etched into their minds.”
Ted described what he saw as ‘horrendous’ and said he would not want any of the children to go through a war.
George recalled seeing Manchester ‘burning at night’ as a result of the Blitz.
Mr Haydar said: “No history textbook could describe what these two individuals went through.”
