“I’ve never seen anyone eat in that place over the road,” mused a pal of mine the other night as I got stuck into a post-work pint in Blackburn town centre.
My mate was pointing out of the window of the Postal Order in the general direction of Sizzles and Grills, one of Darwen Street’s never-ending number of fast food outlets.
It has recently undergone something of a facelift, with painters changing the colour of the exterior.
While upstairs, which seems to be quite busy, is always well populated, I too had noticed that downstairs was a tad quiet.
So I decided to give it a go, even though I wasn’t actually feeling overly hungry.
I ordered a Grilled Classic Chicken Burger and waited.
I don’t know what the difference between a classic chicken burger and a new-style chicken burger I was more than happy to tuck in.
The burger, which was decent but not in the same league as one I ate at Lowerhouse CC last weekend, came with some of those thin fries when proper chips would be more acceptable. A tin of pop was also thrown in.
For a penny under £4 I couldn’t have too many complaints and I may go back — although I would surprise myself if I ever dined from the Sizzles and Grills' A la carte evening restaurant menu.
