A MAN needed hospital treatment after cutting himself with a blade in Burnley town centre.
The incident happened in St James’ Street at around 10.35am yesterday.
The man is understood to have used a razor to cause lacerations to his left arm and left calf as crowds of shoppers passed by.
The manager of Zodiac, in St James’ Lane, said: “I saw a man sat on a bench and then the next thing I knew there were lots of people around him and the police and ambulance arrived.”
The man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but his injuries were not described as life-threatening.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We were called to an incident of a man who was injured in Burnley.
“There were no suspicious circumstances. It is understood he had a razor blade with him.
“He was taken to hospital and was being looked after by medical staff.”
No other injuries were reported.
