BURNLEY residents have reported finding dead bees in their gardens recently, but wildlife experts have said that people should not be overly concerned.
Local beekeeper Tony Martin said: “It’s natural for this happen.
“Bees only live for about three weeks at this time of year. They work themselves to death. Burnley is a good place for bees to live, but this happens ever year.”
And a spokesperson for Lancashire Wildlife Trust agreed that people shouldn’t worry about finding dead bees.
He said: “The hot weather could play a part, but it’s more likely just down to nature. We don’t think it’s a problem with pesticides or a disease epidemic.
“It could just be that people are spending more time outside because of the hot weather, so they’re noticing bees more.”
