PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson attended Cancer Research UK’s parliamentary reception to give his backing to the charity’s latest fundraising and awareness campaign.
He said: “I’m delighted to support Cancer Research UK. While more of us will be diagnosed with cancer in future, there is good news.
“Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, Cancer Research UK’s work is helping to ensure more men, women and children survive the disease.
“So I’m calling on the local community to help Cancer Research UK beat cancer sooner.”
The MP is encouraging people to support the charity in any way they can, whether it’s donating or buying goods from the charity’s shops, volunteering for a few hours a week or supporting events such as the Race for Life series.
Sarah Woolnough, Cancer Research UK’s executive director of policy and information, said: “It’s great to have Andrew Stephenson MP’s support in raising awareness as there’s still so much more we need to do to ensure no-one’s life is cut short by cancer.
“By boosting support and funding now, the best research teams will be able to develop better ways to prevent, control and cure the disease.’
