A STUDENT has been rubbing shoulders with the stars during a work placement programme with a TV company.
Chloe Berry, 19, spent a week doing work experience as a runner with Timeline TV at their base in MediaCityUK, Salford.
Chloe, from Burnley, starts at Edge Hill University in September studying film and television production.
She said: “The week’s been brilliant — I've really enjoyed the experience.
“It's given me a bigger insight into how important the editing process is.
“I've particularly enjoyed continuity editing — putting together different shots for a particular scene — and sound dubbing for a children's programme. I even had the chance to meet (BBC Breakfast host) Bill Turnbull.
“This experience has made me realise the importance of post-production and everyone who works behind the scenes.
“I'm already a bit of a perfectionist, so it's definitely something I'd like to do in the future.”
Chloe is one of a number of young people who have gained work experience through Calico Creative, a Burnley based initiative aimed to create creative and digital media employment opportunities for East Lancashire through links with MediaCityUK.
Katie Bevell, post producer at Timeline TV, said: “Before she started, we had a chat with Chloe about what she wanted to do. We then tried to match this with real work experience.
“She seems to have really enjoyed her time with us, and has been enthusiastic and smiley throughout.
“We have a number of ongoing placements and work experience schemes and, when we advertised for this position, Chloe was put forward by Calico Creative as an ideal candidate. Initiatives like this give people a real glimpse as to what life as a runner entails. The combination of real work experience and job shadowing is much more useful and realistic than just spending a week watching a dubbing mixer work.”
