THE PENNINE Lancashire 10k is set to return to Burnley next summer.
Following the success of the event in the town in June, which saw 1,500 sign up for the inaugural run, organisers For All Events and partners Burnley Council were keen to get a date set in the running calendar.
On Sunday June 22 next year athletes, runners and fun runners will have the chance to take on the route, which passes through three of Burnley’s Green Flag parks, and important landmarks such as Turf Moor and Towneley Hall.
Emma Griffiths, who leads the event, said: “We had a phenomenal debut in Burnley. It felt like the whole town took the event to their hearts.
“The atmosphere on the day was like no other and we knew instantly that we would be holding another Pennine Lancashire 10K next year. We can’t wait for 2014.”
Coun John Harbour, Burnley Council’s executive member for leisure and culture, said: “The first Burnley 10k in June was a fantastic success, it was wonderful to see so many people getting involved to raise money for local and national charities.
“We’re thrilled that the run will take place again next year, and we’re sure that we’ll get even more runners taking part.”
