TWO men were left lying in the road after being ‘beaten up’ in Intack, Blackburn, residents said.
Police cordoned off a section of Accrington Road for several hours on Friday night, after neighbours saw the aftermath of the attack, and called paramedics to help the two men.
Officers were unavailable to give an official account.
But, according to residents, a fight broke out near the Whitebirk Road junction, just before 11pm, which left a man in his 40s, and another in his 50s, badly injured.
A bloodstain was still visible in the road on Saturday.
One woman, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw someone lying right in the middle of the road and there was a lot of blood, and there was another lying up against the pavement.
“They were both down on the floor for about half-an-hour.
“It was all really shocking.
“I’ve been here 30 years and never seen something as bad as that.”
John Hall, landlord at the nearby Intack Inn, said: “I wouldn’t say it’s quiet round here, but there’s not usually trouble like that.”
