A NOVEL celebrating the ‘straight-speaking’ folk of Clitheroe has gone on sale online.
The Clitheroe Prime Minister is the debut Kindle book of town resident Steven Suttie It is a light-hearted commentary on modern British society and the first modern day fiction on the town.
Focused on the outspoken, working class Jim Arkwright who is shot to unexpected fame when a no-nonsense political diatribe – on the economy, crime and disorder and youth unemployment – in the pub is secretly filmed and placed on YouTube.
Quickly gaining national interest, Clitheroe becomes overrun with media keen to get him to stand for Prime Minister.
Steven said: “I started writing this last year. It seemed that everybody I spoke to thought that they had better ideas of how to run the country than the government did.
“I did lots of research and looked at the issues that are causing so many problems. From there I began creating the lovable, no-nonsense character Jim Arkwright.
“He is very believable because we all know somebody just like him.”
The book is available on Amazon.co.uk for £3.45.
