AN inquest has been opened into the death of a man who fell 75ft into a quarry.
Father-of-two Ian Thomson, 25, had been camping with the family of his girlfriend, Sarah Haworth, and was on his way back to the campsite when he got separated from the group, the inquest heard.
He was found at the bottom of Yarnsdale Delf Quarry at Cadshaw, just outside Darwen.
A post-mortem examination found the metal polisher of Lily Street, Darwen, had died from multiple injuries sustained after the fall.
The inquest heard the police were continuing their inquiries.
Coroner Michael Singleton adjourned the inquest until a full hearing on September 10.
