PARENTS are being urged to start applying for school places for children starting in September 2014.
They are reminded that, even if the child has an older brother or sister already at the school they wish to go to, they must still submit an application form.
Paul Bainbridge, Lancashire County Council's head of school admissions said: "Places are likely to be tight in some areas, and we know how important it is to parents to get the right school for their child, so we're encouraging them to apply on time to give themselves the best chance.”
Applications open on September 2 and must be submitted by October 31 for secondary schools and January 15 for primary.
Children start primary school in the September after their fourth birthday.
