AN internal review will be carried out into Ribble Valley Borough Council’s decision to pull out of the Waddow View planning appeal.
As a result of the council’s decision, 345 homes will now be built on the Clitheroe site by a consortium of land-owners including Clitheroe Auction Mart, the Huntroyde Estate and John Taylor.
The council-led investigation will focus on exactly how and why the council made the decision and why Lancashire County Council withdrew their objections to the application.
Coun Ged Mirfin, who was at an emergency meeting of the Conservative borough councillors on Monday night, said: “We urgently need to find a reason for why the council pulled out and that needs to be communicated to the electorate.
“This report will be published and the public will be able to scrutinise it, which is the right thing to do.”
