A FORMER Burnley College student is to compete in a triathlon later this week in memory of a family friend.
Robyn Pinder, 20, from Nelson, will raise money for Breast Cancer Care with an 800m swim, 30km bike ride and a 7.5 km run.
Miss Pinder, who also attended Blessed Trinity RC College, said: “I will be competing in memory of Sandra Strutt, who lost the battle against breast cancer in July 2010.
“Also, my auntie Kirsten also had to have a breast removed and is in remission from breast cancer.
“I enjoy a challenge. Taking part in the triathlon enables me to fulfil my own ambitions and support people with breast cancer.
“I have witnessed first hand the pain and suffering breast cancer can cause to families.”
Miss Pinder has collected £345 of her £500 target. She has entered the Shock Absorber Women Only Triathlon, at Dorney Lake, Berkshire, this Sunday.
