A PENDLE pantomime producer could soon be getting his big TV break with a show he describes as "I'm a Celebrity..." for the ordinary person.

George Critchley, who produces pantomimes and plays at theatres all over the country through his Barrowford-based PMA Productions, has been asked by American and European TV moguls to put together a pilot episode of "Bragging Rights".

The show pits ordinary people against one another in a series of outdoor endurance events.

He has already filmed the action - earlier this year six men from the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa converged on New Zealand to compete against one another.

Activities included speedboat racing, stock car racing, bungee jumping, paintballing, off-road driving and Zorb, where the contenders roll down a hill inside a giant inflated ball.

He even persuaded them to take part in a sheep-shearing challenge.

Now, after seeing a seven-minute clip at the Cannes TV Festival, the distributors want George to put the footage together into a 30-minute programme which could be broadcast to gauge public interest.

If the viewers like it, the show could be heading for a full series on the network.

George, who trained as an actor before setting up his company, said: "The idea for the show is about regular blokes bragging, boasting and competing against each other for the title of 'bragging rights champion'.

"It's all about boys being boys, and being naturally competitive, although I'm hoping to get the girls involved too if it takes off.
