THERE’S a chance to find out more about your family tree with a visit to Gawthorpe Hall this week.
The 17th-century country home will also allow visitors to discover a working Victorian kitchen for the normal admission price, on Friday.
Lancashire County Council’s heritage team will give an insight into how to carry out family history research.
The Hall’s Victorian kitchen is open only once a month, with a special attraction every time.
Rachel Pollitt, Lancashire County Council’s manager at Gawthorpe Hall, said: “Not all of us can boast a family tree like the Shuttleworths, who have been at Gawthorpe for more than 300 years, but there is a real interest in family history. “People love to find out about their heritage and who they are related to, and I think that seeing the Victorian kitchen adds a real atmosphere to the day.
“This is an event for any age group, as most of us have some sort of family we don’t know about. It is interesting to find out about a lost-long relative, or someone we never knew we were related to.”
