THE multi-million pound Darwen Vale High School officially opened its doors on Saturday with a community fun day.
An opening ceremony was performed by two former grammar school pupils, Connie Yates and Keva Painter, and two of the youngest pupils, Thomas Boast and Kirsten Burton, from the current school.
Members of the community and former pupils were given the chance to look around.
The historic frontage has been kept, but the rest of the school has been rebuilt, with working eco features and a central school hub and auditorium, open classrooms, and brand new sports facilities for both students and community use.
Councillor Dave Harling, Blackburn with Darwen executive member for schools and education, said: “The new school is absolutely amazing.
“The facilities are second to none and the outdoor facilities have to be seen to be truly appreciated.”
