A GROUP of die-hard Clarets fans have set off on a money-raising adventure to Barcelona.
Luke Tootle, 27, from Oswaldtwistle, Dominic Porter, 27, and Ryan van Noortwijk, 26, both from Accrington and Jason Blakeledge, 43, from Bury are driving a 1998, £280 Vauxhall Astra-turf through seven countries in four days to raise money for cancer charity Macmillan.
The friends dressed the car in fake grass and themselves in jockey outfits for the Wacky Rally, which set off on the 2,000 journey at 6am on Thursday from Birmingham.
A ‘barmy to Barcelona’ sticker adorned the back bumper while a large Burnley FC vinyl took pride of price in the rear window.
But the group faces a real hurdle. “I’m not sure if we’ll make it,” Luke said. “I think there’s a hole in the exhaust.”
The group hope to arrive in Barcelona today before partying in the Catalan city, scrapping the car and flying home on Tuesday.
