WATER firm United Utilities will start work on a collapsed sewer in Market Street, Colne, on Wednesday.
Now that demolition works have been carried out on an adjacent building, United Utilities’ engineers can start repairing the sewer near the bus station.
The work is expected to take approximately nine weeks, with repairs completed in the early part of September. During the works, one bus stand will be moved to the west end of the bus station and the sewer will still remain operational during the works to minimise disruption.
Peter Atkinson, engineering and special projects manager at Pendle Council, said: “Just like many local residents, we’ve been keen for work to start on the sewers and we're very pleased that a date has now been set for the work to begin.”
