A WARNING about a type of ecstasy tablet has been issued by police after two men in Lancashire were taken to hospital.

The men, from South Ribble, are believed to have taken a green tablet, thought to be a form of ecstasy, on Friday, June 28. They were taken to Royal Preston Hospital and have since been released from care.

During the past month, eight people in Britain have died after taking similarly described pills and detectives are warning people not to experiment with the drug.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Ashton from Lancashire Police said: “Whilst the police and the Health Protection Agency cannot directly link the deaths across the country to the incident here in Lancashire, there is a clear danger to taking illicit drugs.

“We are warning people who are looking to buy or who are taking these drugs to consider the significant consequences as it could end up in death.”

An investigation is under way to establish the source of these tablets and those who are supplying them.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lancashire police on 101. Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

No personal details are taken and information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
