CANCER patient Sam Shaw got a special treat when he was shown around Darwen fire station.
The four-year-old from Hoddlesden and his grandad, Phil Speakman, were shown around by crew manager Pete Derbyshire.
Sam, who was diagnosed in January, is a big fan of Fireman Sam and was invited down by the firefighters who wanted to support his appeal to raise £250,000 for essential immunotherapy treatment in the US.
Mum Christine said: “Sam had a lovely day and couldn’t wait to get home and tell us all about it.
“It was wonderful of the firefighters to have him down there.
“Once again, the support is overwhelming.”
The Sam Shaw Appeal has now broken through the £175,000 barrier. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/samshawappeal
