QUESTIONS marks have been raised over grant aid for community groups as Rossendale Borough Council seeks to save £1.5million this financial year.
In June 2011, financial allocations were made to a number of organisations, under three year deals, from a £115,650 allocated reserve.
Beneficaries included the likes of Bacup Consortium Trust, The Magadelene Project, Horse and Bamboo Theatre, Rossendale Citizens Advice Bureau and the Star Centre.
Officials have confirmed they will be writing to 14 interested parties to see how a withdrawal of funding would affect their operations.
Town hall officials noted Lancashire County Council is now commissioning domestic violence services - and new public health bodies will handle funding for some valley projects.
