AN EAST Lancashire employment expert has welcomed news that the government is extending a scheme exempting small businesses from red tape.
Business minister Michael Fallon announced the existing exemption on new regulation for businesses with less than 10 staff will be extended to those with up to 50 staff and will continue beyond 2014.
The Small and Micro Business Assessment (SMBA) will ensure that all new regulations proposed, are assessed by an independent committee. Oliver McCann, Employment partner at Napthens solicitors in Blackburn, said: “Red tape and regulations, while important, do place a heavy burden on the small business community in particular.”
