SELRAP, the campaign group that calls for the reinstatement of the railway line linking Colne with Skipton, has named a new high-profile patron.
Richard Faulkner, Baron Faulkner of Worcester, met members of SELRAP’s executive committee in Skipton and visited parts of the track bed between the town and Colne, which the group are working to have reinstated. At the end of the meeting he declared the project to be ‘very viable’, and agreed to become a patron of the cause.
Cosmetics company LUSH has also given support to the campaign. As well as providing financial assistance, the company, which has 13 stores across the north of England, has agreed to display information about SELRAP in order to raise awareness amongst their customers about the economic and social benefits the re-opening of the line would bring.
The group will be holding an open meeting for members and prospective members at at Herriots Hotel in Skipton at 7pm on July 8. For more information visit: www.selrap.org.uk.
