PENDLE Leisure Trust’s Out and About team has joined up with the Colne-based Walkers Are Welcome group to organise a mini-walking festival. Organiser Wayne Bowman said the aim was to showcase the walking opportunities in and around Colne.
There are eight walks in total, ranging from a gentle walk around Alkincoats Park to a day-long hike over Boulsworth Hill.
Mr Bowman, Pendle Leisure Trust’s Out and About co-ordinator, said: “This is the second year we have run this festival and we hope to build on the success of last year.
“Colne has so many wonderful walking opportunities and you are never more than ten minutes from the countryside, even in the middle of the town centre.”
The festival runs from July 12 to 15, and copies of the programme are available from Discover Pendle, outside Boundary Mill, Colne, Pendle Heritage Centre, Barrowford, Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne and Colne Library.
