PEOPLE going to Bacup and Stacksteads Carnival are being asked to donate a tin or packet of food on Sunday.
For the fete’s 60th anniversary and organisers chose the RAFT Foundation as its chosen charity.
Chairman David Morris said: “We are hoping for sunny weather to shine on the parade and the crowds to show their support.
“Tins and packets to donate to Rossendale’s Foodbank, which is run by RAFT, can be brought to the Futures Park in Newchurch Road, at 11am.
“We have floats from the RAFT Foundation, Rossendale Round Table and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, as well as children from Bacup Nursery School, St Saviour’s Primary School, Stacksteads Methodist Playgroup and Dansworks.
“Town Crier Ian Garside will lead the parade and we also have walkers including the Britannia Coconut Dancers, Shotokan Karate Club, Veterans in Community, the Air Training Corps, Cats Protection League and two old buses from Bury Transport Museum.”
