A 52-YEAR-OLD man ended up clashing with police when he tried to encroach on a part of Blackburn being used to make a film about the troubles in Northern Ireland.
Blackburn magistrates heard drunken Lance Cook lived in Stansfeld Street where the film set had been created.
And he objected when a security guard refused to allow him access and then called the police.
“He was simply trying to get home,” said Andrew Church-Taylor, defending. “He was in drink but he was not causing any nuisance to anyone. Left to his own devices he would have gone home and slept off his excesses.
“All he wanted to do was go through the film set to get to his own home but a security officer told him he couldn’t go through,” said Mr Church-Taylor.
“The police officer tried to lead him on a rather circuitous route to his home address and this lead to an exchange of words.”
Cook, of Stansfeld Street, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. He was fined £35 with £20 costs.
