BLACKBURN charity, Mum’s The Word, will soon be setting up shop in the town centre.
The Mall has offered the Shadsworth-based charity a free unit for six weeks, which will allow them to open their own shop for the summer months.
They have now been told the unit will be next to the Ditsch shop, adjacent to Vodafone.
The charity sells pre-loved children’s school uniforms and activity wear at a fraction of the usual cost.
It aims to keep textiles out of landfill and to ensure that old uniforms are passed on to those who really need them.
The launch of the Mum’s The Word shop will take place on July 20 and it will be manned by co-founders Rachel Rhodes and Caroline Fotios, as well as an army of dedicated volunteers.
Caroline said: “We launched Mum’s The Word as we are passionate about recycling and helping the local community.
“It has been a real whirlwind of activity since we launched and the chance to trade for free in The Mall is more than we could have ever hoped for – especially during the school holidays, which is our busiest time.”
