BLACKBURN Festival was such a success that organisers are already asking for volunteers for next year’s event.
The free one-day festival attracted around 5,000 people to Witton Park to watch a huge variety of musical performances, dance and performing arts.
The festival featured R&B rising star Esco Williams, British Indian bhangra act H-Dhami and masters of hype, indie band Twisted Wheel.
The event was planned and executed solely by volunteers and planning is under way for next year’s festival.
Chairman of Blackburn Festival committee, Alex Martindale, said: “There was a great fun, family atmosphere, and it was satisfying to see so many people of all ages and backgrounds getting together to have a good time.
“I’d also like to thank everyone who helped make it such a success by volunteering, sponsoring or just coming along to the festival.”
Organisers are appealing for more volunteers for next year and are keen to hear from people who can help with publicity and fundraising through sponsorship and grants.
Councillor Damian Talbot, executive member for culture, leisure and young people’s services, said: “The festival was a brilliant example of what volunteers can achieve when they join forces.”
