THE organiser of the Clitheroe Food Bank have appealed for more volunteers and donations ahead of its opening in July.
Ruth Haldaine, who addressed a meeting of Ribble Valley Council’s parish liaison committee, said that there was a desperate need for more stock to be donated before the opening on Monday, July 8.
The food bank is set to issue vouchers printed on a red background in order to help prevent people photocopying them to get more food than they are allocated.
Ms Haldaine said: “There are people in Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley as a whole that are in desperate need of this food bank.
“I wish that it did not exist and it would close the very day that there is no need but there is a need right now.
“Any help that anybody can give will be much appreciated and I hope we can make a difference in people’s lives.”
