AN energy provider generated some extra interest in an open day at a Rossendale animal charity.
Vital planned maintenance work on the electricity supply would have meant power was interrupted for Cronkshaw Fold Farm, Helmshore.
But engineers from Electricity North West (ENW) stepped in to provide a generator for the Alden Valley attraction.
Joy McCarthy, co-owner of the farm, said: “We understand the necessity of planned shutdowns and that they have to take place so work can be carried out, but it would have had a significant impact on us. Not only would we not have been able to open, but our baby chicks would not have survived without an incubator.”
Lee Maxwell, ENW’s area manager, said outages were necessary to maintain the network and reduce risks of power cuts, adding: “We are delighted that we could provide a generator to Cronkshaw Fold Farm so they could continue to provide a great service for children to enjoy and also to ensure the chicks were safe throughout the day.”
