AN order which will help a new aerospace park in Burnley ‘lift off’ has been approved by borough councillors.
Tooling expert Kaman Ltd has already signed up as the first tenant for the project, at the former Michelin site.
But now a local development order can be signed which will speed up progress on the scheme, which was made possible by a £1million Regional Growth Fund grant and is backed by leading town employer Aircelle.
Under the terms of the order, the planning application process for would-be tenants is comprehensively simplified.
Councillor Shah Hussain, the council’s regeneration and economic development cabinet member, said: “The aerospace supplier park is an important part of Burnley’s future as a centre for engineering excellence.
“Adopting this order will help simplify the planning process.”
