A FLAG-raising ceremony will be undertaken by the Mayor of Pendle as part of the borough’s contributions to Armed Forces Week.
Coun Smith Benson will today receive a specially-commissioned flag from Lancashire Deputy Lord Lieutenant John Downham MBE, which will be flown at Nelson Town Hall.
“It’s an honour to show our support and gratitude for the work done by the armed forces community past, present and future,” said Coun Benson.
The ceremony will take place just after 11.20am.
Elsewhere a fun day is being held at Holmefield House, Barrowford, on Saturday, including a drumhead service at 2pm, and Colne’s Royal British Legion Club is planning a similar event on Sunday, featuring jazz and swing numbers from Debbie Wilson.
