A NEW adventure playground boasting a 42-feet high frame and 60-metre zip wire has officially opened in Colne.

The Urban Altitude aerial assault course went down a storm at its officially opening, with members of the Vivary Bridge Youth Club among the first to try it out.

Club helper Matthew Parker said “At the end they all said they had enjoyed it.

“They weren’t sure about the very high parts and the power-fan drop, but they said it was definitely worth getting scared for. And now they want to come again.”

The course, which has high ropes 28-feet off the ground - and lower ropes at nine feet for those more faint at heart - is thought to be the first of its kind for the UK in an urban setting.

Manager Peter Hinde said: “It was a very successful opening night with lots of people coming down to try it out.

“The kids absolutely loved it and said they can’t wait to come again. We had to ease them off the equipment at the end of the night because they wanted to stay.”
