TWO business leaders from Burnley have stepped in to provide a timely boost to a TV presenter’s culinary crusade for a sick youngster.
Bid TV star Sally Jacks recently appeared on the East Lancashire edition of the Channel 4 favourite Come Dine With Me.
And she pledged to recreate her menu for the highest bidder in aid of the appeal for Sam Shaw, the four-year-old from Hoddlesden with neuroblastoma.
But to Sally’s dismay the first few winning bids on the e-Bay auction site fell through due to irregularities.
However Julian Smith, who runs Discount Carpets on the Lomeshaye industrial estate in Nelson, stepped in with a £750 pledge.
And when ‘Bank of Dave’ business mogul Dave Fishwick heard of the former Bucks Fizz singer’s efforts, he promised another £1,000 for Sally to hand over to Sam’s appeal.
Sally, from Ightenhill, said: “It really was like the Burnley boys riding to the rescue and I’m very grateful to both of them.”
The meal secured by Julian consists of Halloumi Stuffed Peppers for starter, Posh Fish ‘n’ Chips served with salt ‘n’ vinegar sauce, minted mushy peas and tomato fondue for main, and a dessert of Meringue Gelato Cake with mixed berries and chocolate sauce.
Sally will be receiving cheques from Dave and Julian at the Bank on Dave offices in Keirby Walk.
Little Sam and his family and friends are fundraising to reach a £250,000 target to send him to America for potentially life-saving treatment.
